Townsford Mill Antiques CentreTownsford Mill Antiques Centre

Townsford Mill dates back to 1740 and was originally water powered, eventually giving way to steam. It was the first Courtauld´s mill and produced the silk crepe for Queen Victoria´s mourning gowns. It now has over 60 antiques and collectables dealers showing their wares in over 5000 sq.ft spread over two floors of the mill. Some episodes of the TV programme Lovejoy were also filmed at the mill. The mill is located at the bottom of Halstead's main shopping street, a tradition style High Street with many interesting stores. The ground floor of the mill also houses Dickens Restaurant and Cafe Bar, with it beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking the River Colne.
